KWASHIEMAN DISTRICT
On 26th August, 2007, the Kwashieman sub – district was elevated into a full district after being carved from the Kaneshie District with Rev. Andrews Odorkor as the first District Minister.
In September 2011, Rev Samuel Nortey Adjei took up the mantle from Rev Odorkor when he was transferred by the General Assembly Council. Then from September 2017, Rev. Jeremias Davidson Agyemfra took over the realms of affair as the District Minister until September 2021 where he handed over to Rev. Kofi Manukure Akyeampong, who has been at post till date.
Rev Kofi Manukure Akyeampong works with the following as Standing Committee members; Ms. Elizabeth Appiah (District Session Clerk), Mr. Lovelace Frank Tackie (Lay Representative), Rev Mrs. Patience Okai Ayivie (Minister’s Representative) and Catechist Charles Boateng (Catechist’s Representative).
The Kwashieman District has twelve congregations comprising the following;
TRINITY CONGREGATION
Trinity Congregation, the head station of the Kwashieman District was established in the year 1979. The Congregation has Rev. Kofi Manukure Akyeampong (District Minister and Minister in charge), Rev. Mrs. Joyce Akweley Koranteng and Rev. Dr. Victor Zizer (Associate Ministers) and Catechist Magnus Acolor as the agents for the church. Trinity Congregation has a total membership of four thousand and thirteen (4013) and this figure is made up three hundred and one (301) children, two hundred and ninety-seven (297) JY, seven hundred and sixty (760) YPG, nine hundred and forty-five (945) YAF and one thousand seven hundred and ten (1710) adults.
The church undertakes a number of activities to win more souls among which include; house to house and street evangelism. The church organises weekly prayer sessions on Wednesdays and Fridays. There the disciple classes where new comers and converts are taken through 6 weeks training on the rules and regulations of the church before they are admitted as full members.
The church building has seen major facelift with the church manse fully completed all under the leadership of Rev. Kofi Manukure Akyeampong.
ZION CONGREGATION – AWOSHIE
The Zion Congregation is the second largest congregation in the Kwashieman District. It has a total membership of one thousand four hundred and five (1405) consisting of two hundred and thirteen (213) children, one hundred and forty-five (145) JY, two hundred and twenty-four (244) YPG, two hundred and fifty-two (252) YAF and five hundred and fifty-one (551) adults. Mrs. Beatrice Ansah Kwakye is the Minister in charge of Zion congregation and she is assisted by Cat. Kofi Darkwah.
GRACE CONGREGATION – ALANG
Rev. Dr. Paapa Puplampu and Cat. Stephen Owusu are the agents of Grace Congregation. The church was founded on 7th November, 1991 at A-Lang.
The membership of the church stands at eight hundred and one (801) consisting of two hundred and twenty-two (222) children, ninety-seven (97) JY, eighty-nine (89) YPG, seventy-four (74) YAF and three hundred and nineteen (319) adults.
MOUNT SINAI CONGREGATION – AUNTIE AKU
The Mt. Sinai Congregation was established on 2nd May, 1999 at Auntie-Aku but the real site is Nsumfa as a preaching point and on 25th September, 2005, the church was elevated to a full congregational status.
The current statistics of the congregation is seven hundred and thirteen (713). This number is made up of one hundred and forty-five (145) children, eighty-seven (87) JY, seventy-two (72) YPG, sixty-nine (69) YAF and three hundred and forty (340) adults.
The Agents for the congregation are Rev. Mrs. Patience Okai Ayivie and Cat. Alfred Asante.
PRINCE OF PEACE CONGREGATION – SOWUTUOM
The Church was founded on 12th November 1995 with an initial membership of eleven adults and nine children. Presently, it has a membership of five hundred and sixty-three (563) with the break down as follows; one hundred and nine (109) children, seventy-two (72) JY, seventy-two (72) JY, fifty-five (55) YPG, fifty-eight (58) YAF and two hundred and eighty-nine (269) adults.
Prince of Peace has Rev. Mrs. Vida Appau as the Minister in charge and ably supported by Cat. Owusu Akuamoah.
PENIEL CONGREGATION – ROMAN HILL
The Congregation was formed on 19th August 2001 as a preaching point and it was later christened Peniel on 21st October, 2012. Cat. Glory Omane is the Catechist in charge of the congregation.
The current membership of the congregation is four hundred and sixty-five (465) that is, one hundred and seventeen (117) children, fifty-eight (58) JY, forty-two (42) YPG, forty-eight (48) YAF and two hundred (200) adults.
DIVINE CONGREGATION – ANYAA
The Divine Congregation which was formerly under the Accra Central District of the Ga Presbytery became part of Kwashieman District of the Ga West Presbytery in September, 2016.
The church has Rev Patrick Adjei Acheampong and Catechist Charles Boateng as its Agents. The membership of the church is four hundred (400). This figure is composed of sixty-three (63) children, forty (40) JY, seventy-four (74) YPG, forty-nine (49) YAF and one hundred and seventy-four (174) adults.
ROYAL PRIESTHOOD – NORTH SOWUTUOM
The church was founded in 2003 and known then as North Sowutuom Preaching Point until 2019 when it was elevated to a congregation and christened; Royal Priesthood. The congregation is composed of one hundred and twenty-four (124) children, sixty-six (66) JY, fifty-six (56) YPG, forty-four (44) YAF and one hundred (100) adults which sums up to a total of three hundred and ninety (390) congregants.
The Agent of the church is Catechist Kwasi Amoah.
HOPE CONGREGATION – SANTA MARIA
The church was founded in November, 1995. Hope Congregation started with fourteen members and by the grace of God the statistics now stands at three hundred and eighty-nine (389). Out of this, one hundred and seven (107) are children, sixty-six (66) JY, sixty-six (66) YPG, fifty-three (53) YAF and ninety-seven (97) adults.
Catechist Frank Osei is the Catechist in charge of the Hope Congregation.
VICTORY PREACHING POINT – OMANJOR
The church was planted on 12th June, 2005 at Omanjor. Current statistics is two hundred and ninety-seven (297) making up of eighty-three (83) children, fifty-five (55) JY, seventy-one (71) YPG, twenty-six (26) YAF and sixty-two (62) adults.
Victory Preaching Point has Cat. Justice Asiamah as the catechist in charge.
CAPITAL HILL PREACHING POINT – CAPITAL HILL
Capital Hill was established in November, 2012 with ten members. Presently, the membership stands at two hundred and fifty (250) comprising one hundred and two (102) children, thirty-two (32) JY, thirty-four (34) YPG, twenty-five (25) YAF and fifty-seven (57) adults. The Catechist in charge is Catechist Eric Boadi
ANYAA LAST STOP PREACHING POST – ANYAA
The Anyaa Last Stop Preaching Point started on 14th May 2016 with the current Agent in charge being Catechist Edward Tetteh. It has a total membership of 141 and this number is made up of; 50 children, 9 JY, 14 YPG, 20 YAF and 48 adults.
